BBES Newsletter

Blue Ball Elementary School

Blue Ball Families and Community,

Welcome to this week's edition of the Blue Ball Elementary School Newsletter! We're excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

A friendly reminder that parent-teacher conferences are coming up this week on Thursday and Friday. We look forward to meeting with you and your child to discuss your child’s progress. While you’re in the building, please take a moment to check the lost and found for any missing items.

Spotlight on Academics

Math fact fluency is an important part of your child’s success in math. When students can quickly and automatically recall basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts, it frees up their brain to focus on more complex problem-solving and deeper understanding. This strong foundation supports future learning in areas like fractions, algebra, and higher-level math.
Why math fact fluency matters:
  • Boosts efficiency: Students can focus on new concepts instead of basic calculations.
  • Supports problem solving: Quick recall allows more time and energy for multi-step and word problems.
  • Builds a strong foundation: Skills like multiplication are essential for understanding fractions and algebra.
  • Increases confidence: Students who know their facts feel more capable and experience less math anxiety.
  • Applies to everyday life: Fast, accurate math is useful for real-world tasks like managing money or calculating totals.
Practicing math facts regularly at home can make a big difference in your child’s confidence and success!

You are still welcome to return any of the following Family activities.

Safe and Civil School Survey

We invite you to participate in the Safe and Civil Schools survey during the week of March 23rd-27th. The survey will help us identify what we are doing well and what we need to work on, such as safety in a particular location in the school, learners’ understanding of the expectations for behavior, or communication with families.

Please review the District Letter here.

Please complete the Parent Survey here.

Staff Member of the Week

Staff members have the opportunity to recognize their peers for their contributions and dedication. We celebrated Mrs. Dissinger and Ms. Urban during morning announcements this past week. We extend our sincere thanks to Texas Roadhouse for providing certificates and meal coupons for these individuals.

PTO Reminders

Our next PTO Meeting is Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 6:30 PM in the Blue Ball Conference Room. A virtual link will be sent prior to the meeting for those unable to attend in person.

All PTO officer positions — President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer — will be open for the 2026–2027 school year. Nominations are still being accepted, with elections to be held at the April meeting.

PTO is looking for new faces and fresh ideas, especially kindergarten and first grade parents who are ready to get involved and grow with our school community. Attending a PTO meeting is a great way to learn how you can help and what each role involves.
Please note: Without volunteers to fill these positions, we will not have a PTO, which means programs such as field trips, RIF books, teacher appreciation, family nights, and more would not be possible.
Your involvement truly makes a difference—please consider stepping up or nominating someone today! If you have questions or would like to make a nomination for yourself or someone else please email us at blueballpto1@gmail.com.

The Blue Ball PTO Gertrude Hawk Spring Fundraiser pick-up will being during Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Excellence in Attendance

We are grateful to our families for sharing your children each day as we grow and learn together. When students attend school consistently, they not only strengthen essential skills in reading, writing, and math, but also benefit from collaboration with peers—sharing ideas, building teamwork, and forming lasting friendships. Being together nurtures social development and fosters a sense of belonging that enriches the learning experience. When everyone is present, we grow stronger, more confident, and better prepared for success—together.

Congratulations to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades who had 95% or better attendance last week.
